Conway lawyer, Abdalla Barqawi, running for CCLA trustee
News Item
Conway lawyer, Abdalla Barqawi, is running in the CCLA trustee election. We invite you to read his candidate profile below.
I am a blind litigation lawyer with Conway Baxter Wilson LLP. I have experienced the good work done by the CCLA for several years and now seek the opportunity to contribute back to our legal community and to the CCLA.
Before joining Conway, I clerked for Justice Sheilah Martin at the Supreme Court of Canada. I then worked at a national firm in Toronto. My move back to Ottawa has made me appreciate the importance of the CCLA in the life and fabric of the Ottawa legal community. Through the CCLA, the legal professions have traditionally worked closely and collaboratively with the Ottawa judiciary. Since its inception, the CCLA has played a unique role in garnering these relationships, with the ultimate goal of improving the practise of law. It would be a privilege for me to play a role in continuing the CCLA’s legacy for the years to come.
