My 100th post!

Blog

I began this blog to better engage legal professionals in the activities of the Law Society.

It was hard to know what success the blog would have, but it has proved popular.

I am very pleased to have reached today’s milestone: my 100th post.

The success of the blog suggests to me that advancements in technology that are reshaping the legal industry and prompting the Law Society to closely consider alternate ways of delivering legal services, are also helping unite the profession.

The blog and the digital platforms to which it connects are filling some of the chasm that naturally exists between a profession and its regulating body.

We can offer perspective on important issues more quickly and widely than ever before.

My post about our 10-hour-long articling debate in 2012 engaged many readers. The livestreams of both articling debates and the Law Society’s accompanying live blogs also prompted a lot of online activity within the legal community.

At one point, #articling was trending in the Twittersphere as second in Canada and first in Ontario. Our data showed that the debate generated more than 1,000 tweets and re-tweets.

By then, I admit, I was hooked.

My blog audience and the volume of Twitter followers for both @ThomasGConway and@LawsocietyLSUC spiked again when I tweeted from stage at the 2013 Call to the Bar ceremonies.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with so many of you in this way.

Thank you for reading. And, in the spirit of transparency that the internet so seamlessly facilitates, I invite you to share with me and others your impressions.
